In 1956 we left England to live in Tanganyika.  Father, Mum, Tim, me [Tessa] and newborn Cate. Brave Mum we were 90 miles from anywhere in a barely finished house.  Over the ensuing years we moved to Southern Rhodesia where we lost Cate to bronchial pneumonia when she was three.  We lived on a section of a ranch so Tim and I went to boarding school.  Adam was born in 1960 and after we moved to Northern Rhodesia Ben was born in 1962.  Following Zambian independence we were told we had to leave.  How far did we go?  New Zealand!  Two years later we were back in Rhodesia. By 1983 the turmoil there was so bad Mum and Father went to retire in Spain. Almost ten happy years there before cancer took Father's life.  Mum sold up in Spain and moved to Chichester.  Mum called one day to say that there was a trip to Norway she would love to go on.  I encouraged her to go!  From there well... it was Switzerland, Portugal and houses and gardens all over England.  By the time Mum left her flat she had a whole bookshelf of all the places she had been to.  Darling Mum, happy travels!
